Hill ‘n Dale offers a variety of venues to satisfy your clay target interests. From sporting clays, skeet, five stand, and trap, we have your game. We also host many famous instructors on a regular basis including Jim Arnold, John Woolley, and Bruce Shultz. We also have many level I and II shooting instructors on staff that are available throughout the year for instruction.
The sporting clay course is fully automated with over 65 Lincoln and Promatic Traps. A controlled release system allows the shooters to ‘pull’ for themselves and allows the flexibility of moving through the course at the squad’s own pace and skill level while keeping track of the number of targets thrown. This has proven to be a great improvement in our course and allows for more reliability and consistency in our target presentations. There is a second sporting clay course open April through October which presents many open field shots. It is fully automated and has at least two traps on each station.
Sporting Clays
We have one of the best sporting clays courses in the Midwest. Designed by world famous course designer, Gordon Phillips, Hill ‘n Dale is well known for its challenging and exciting presentations by utilizing a wide variety of over 65 automatic traps. There is an additional course that is open April-September. Both courses offer the Longrange sporting clays card system. Individual shooters can shoot the courses using the delay feature on the cards as well.
With over 30 different available stations, the sporting clay courses provide varying degrees of difficulty. The club staff is constantly changing target presentations on the course/s to provide fresh and new looks for our members and their guests.
The woods course has presentations over 3 ponds, a 50-foot ranger tower, 60-foot double telephone pole tower, and a great variety of woods and field shots. The field course offers some great presentations in the open sky and utilized the many field edges for hiding traps. The club offers some Sporting Clay leagues for members that present a new set of targets every week. By shooting every week at new targets, shooters can really improve their shooting prowess.
Skeet/Trap
Our skeet/trap field is one of the most popular destinations for the competitive skeet/trap shooter and families alike. Whether you are a well-seasoned skeet/trap competitor or just want to practice your wing shooting, we’re sure you will enjoy our facilities. We have a combination Trap/Skeet Field and a Skeet field. Both fields operate on the token system.
Five Stand Sporting Field
5-Stand is a sport shooting game that many say provides the shooter with the ultimate in enjoyment and variety. 6-8 automatic trap machines are utilized to create an endless variety of target combinations. The 5 stand is now covered so you can enjoy shooting in any weather condition.
Beginner shooters, as well as intermediate and advanced, enjoy the array of targets that can be practiced from the five different shooting stations. This is the perfect place for a quick tune up or to practice that difficult shot that always seems to get away.
Clay Sporting privileges are included in all membership programs.
